Lagoon 39 / hull #102 / Specifications

Starting out on April 2015, here is our log

The yacht was handed over on April 22nd. and we planned to leave on the 26th. for Palma de Mallorca to install all options. Due to the bad weather we postponed the departure to the 26th and left in the morning of the same day. Rather calm at first it became very windy and big seas built up in the afternoon. At night we encountered wind gusts of up to 45 knots and 4m cross waves. MITSU though behaved admirably and accepted everything the sea threw at her. We did have some minor problems with a leaking backboard window and some minor leakage in the forward starboard cabin from the hatch. Later we found also some damage done by the backboard water tank, who had not been securely fastened and had almost smashed a water pipe. Nothing major though and Lagoon (hopefully) will take care of it in Palma de Mallorca. The next morning it calmed down and we had a more gentle crossing from the Spanish headland to Mallorca. Closer to Mallorca we got a steady head wind and were forced to use the engines to make our way to the harbor. We arrived on the 28th. in the afternoon at Club de Mar in Palma.

Further events in April

After arriving at Club de Mar, we contacted the Lagoon representative who will install the options and visited a boat show that was held over the weekend in Palma, not far from our mooring. We bought a dinghy from a local dealer who turned out to be Swiss, as a replacement for the dinghy that we bought from a German Internet company. That dinghy was sent with the motor to La Grande Motte but only the motor arrived and the dinghy never did.

Mitsu is sitting now at the Club de Mer mooring and work is done on the repairs and installation of the options. It will be some time before we can continue on the next journey to Spain. Further News to follow as they happen.

May 2015

Gerhard is supervising and helping with the repairs and installation of the options and hopes to anchor outside of Club de Mer within three weeks as the docking fees are quite expensive at 500 Euro a week. No bargains to be had in the Mediterranean.

June 2015

It turned out that the local S&M Yacht Service S.L. was not as competent and efficient, even though highly praised by N. Heyde from Lagoon Germany and works dragged out as more problems arose when the options were installed. The workers were sloppy and showed up only sporadically and for few hours. In the end we stayed at Club de Mar for a month and I paid 3.5k Euros for marina fees. That was not the end of it, works dragged out on and on and were not finished until the August 1st. when a broken solar panel was replaced.

July 2015

Arriving on July 18th. on board the MITSU, I noted that the works were still not completed even though we have been in Mallorca now for almost 2 months. Gerhard has been exasperated by the slow progress and the sloppy workmanship. N. Heyde from Lagoon Germany is just trying to get everything fixed at the least expenses for himself but at a lot of expenses to me. Summary is that Lagoon was in a hurry to finish MITSU for the exhibition in La Grande Motte and made many assembly mistakes and S&M Yacht Service did not catch the problems early on and exacerbated the problems even more.
